Application forms for the North Course 2010/2011, the South Course 2011, and the West Course 2011 are now available click the left hand options.

Please note all our courses are residential as this is an important aspect of the training. It is important to think about the format of the course ie weeks/weekends rather than just the location. For example many people from the South choose North or West for a more intensive experience with some free time. Book your train in advance and save up to 50% or share lifts with other participants.

Ambleside - Rydal Hall: North - 2 separate weeks from November 2010-2011
or
Woking - St Columba's: South - 6 weekends from January 2011
or
New for 2011/12
Ammerdown (near Bath) - Ammerdown Centre: West - 2 long weekends and 1 week beginning November 2011

CASCADE has been running fully subscribed yearly Courses in Counsellor Supervision Training since the 1980's nationally, at Diploma level. The CASCADE Diploma covers both Individual and Group Supervision and is for Counsellors, as well as Psychotherapists and those in related professions.

The CASCADE course is a bespoke course which has been validated by ABC Awards and intends to be of assistance to counsellors preparing to meet the BACP requirements for supervisory accreditation.

CASCADE training is residential and offers a professional qualification. The course was initially set up in the 1980s by Francesca Inskipp and Brigid Proctor and since 1994 has been facilitated by a team of experts in the field of counselling, psychotherapy and supervision (see Tutor Team).

CASCADESupervision Training has an integrative basis and we recruit counsellors and other participants from a variety of theoretical backgrounds (humanisitic, existential, systemic, psychodynamic, transpersonal, person centred, cognitive behavioural etc.) The tutors also offer a wide knowledge and practice of various theoretical orientations and are all BACP and/or UKCP accredited/registered. The course is designed to facilitate participants to learn, establish and identify their skills as a supervisor in their own professional field whether it be counselling and psychotherapy or social work, coaching, homeopathy, addiction work etc. (see FAQ's).

Unlike most courses we are able to offer a high ratio of student - tutor contact and aim to have 1 tutor to 6 students which means FOUR TUTORS throughout the course life. Given this high tutor/student ratio we are significantly cheaper compared to other courses. Why not read our former students statements below to get both a flavour of the course and what participants feel they have gained professionally. Please also see FAQ's (top left) which offers answers to the common questions people have.

There are two venues: one in the South and one in the North of England: click on the left side of this page either North (2x1 weeks) or South (6 weekends) for information, application forms and prices.

The course offers:
  • A committment to establish a learning community
  • A 1:6 tutor student ratio
  • Critical aspects of supervisory theory from a broad range of theoretical approaches
  • Techniques for individual and group supervision
  • Creative ways of being in the supervisory relationship
  • A high level of experiential learning
  • A variety of small group and large group learning
  • Peer and tutor assessment
  • A holding environment through a residential format
  • Self-directed learning with regard to portfolio, essay and learning presentation

  • The Application Process for The Diploma in Supervision

Applicants first submit an e form in which they show their qualifications and experience. If they satisfy the course requirements an email will be sent offering a provisional place on the course. They will also receive, by attachment, documents to read to decide whether this is a suitable course to fulfil their requirements. A provisional place will be held for a short period of time as outlined in the letter of acceptance. If a place is acccepted students then need to send their registration form with their deposit to secure a place. Please note: the registration form is your commitment to participate in the course and pay in full. The deposit secures you a place at the venue and is therefore non refundable if at a later date you withdraw unless we have a waiting list.

Prior to the start of the course students are contacted by their tutor and can request a face to face interview. Students are asked to discuss the course requirements and content with their existing supervisor who is then asked to sign a form to say their supervision work will be supervised.

    Equal Opportunities
CASCADE supervision training courses are designed to encourage the creation of an environment which promotes equality of opportunity in its training. Our aim is to offer training that is free of stereotyped and oppressive beliefs and attitudes and is responsive to the individual needs of trainees. We believe that our training should be free from discrimination on the grounds of age, culture, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation and social class. We therefore endeavour to take into account the views of groups that suffer discrimination by paying attention to how we communicate and use language, the environment in which we learn, and in our publicity.
