How long is the course when I begin in November, December or January and finish in June, July or October?
All the courses are a year long, so even when the teaching is completed there is still work to be submitted such as the essay and your log of supervsion hours. The ABC Diploma is awarded at the end of the year when all this is complete. If it is not completed then you may carry over to the next course year.

How will my theoretical orientation or my working context fit within this course?
This course concentrates on the development of the practitioner to become a humane, competent and ethical supervisor, what ever their theoretical orientation or context. The course regards supervision as a discrete activity in its own right with its own theories, values, principles and qualities which are taught in different contexts by the tutors. It is these that are at the heart of the course.

How experientially orientated is this course?
The emphasis of the course when we meet is on the experiential. Participants therefore have the opportunity to supervise practitioners from the same or different theoretical orientations and contexts. We emphasise the relational aspect of supervision and the importance of giving clear, specific, empathic feedback.

What happens between each week/weekend?
During the rest of the training year students are required to do their own reading, supervise at least two individuals to get their required hours and reflect on their work. Participants are usually in contact with their course colleagues by email during the times we do not meet. It is unusual to meet in person because people live in disparate areas.

How much time do I need to spend between course meetings on private study?
As a rough guideline, the following is one student's breakdown of hours she spent working on and between course weekends (Woking Course):
